| HD EXPO November 2007 Speakers
Layne Friedman most recently completed work on Robert Zemeckis’ Beowulf 3D as a CG Supervisor. In this role, he was responsible for leading a team of 25 artists on various shots throughout the film. In addition, he helped design the 3D pipeline and wrote documentation used to train new artists on the show. Prior to Beowulf 3D, Friedman was a CG Supervisor on the 3D version of Open Season. Before that he worked as a CG Supervisor on Bewitched, The Forgotten, and Bad Boys II, which received a VES nomination for Best Supporting Visual Effects in a film. His other credits while at Imageworks include Cast Away, Stuart Little and The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Before joining Sony Pictures Imageworks, Friedman worked for USAnimation, Inc., where he composited commercial spots which combined live action and animation for such clients as Ogilvy & Mather and Saatchi & Saatchi. During his time at USAnimation Inc., Friedman’s "Coca-Cola Saxman" spot won an Annie Award for Best Animated Commercial. He started his visual effects career doing motion control and optical effects work for Westheimer Company. Friedman graduated with at Bachelor of Arts degree from UCLA.
